Ashoro
Ashoro (足寄町 Ashoro-chō) is a town in Ashoro District, in the extreme north east of Tokachi Subprefecture. The large area under the township includes part of the Akan National Park and some of the largest areas of ancient forest in the island.
In 2006, Ashoro had a population of 8,444. It has a land area of 1,408 km² - the largest of any designated town in Japan.

- Lake Onnetō (オンネトー湖 Onnetōko) Located in the Akan National Park, at the foot of Mt Meakan, this small lake is a noted beauty spot.
- Lake Onnetō Waterfall (オンネトー湯の滝 Onnetō yunotaki) A hot spring water fall.
- Mount Akanfuji (阿寒富士 Akanfuji) 1476 m.
- Mount Meakan (雌阿寒岳 Meakandake) 1499 m.
