Erimo
Erimo (えりも町 Erimo-chō) is the sole township of Horoizumi District, at the southeastern extremity of Hidaka Subprefecture between Tokachi Subprefecture and the Pacific Ocean.
It is celebrated for its well-defined cape (and a popular song about it) and the winds and the mists that form around it. Visitors also come to see the Kurile seals that live there. Erimo is a fishing centre that also produces the edible kelp known in Japanese as konbu (コンブ) [1].
In 2008, Erimo had a population of 5,759. It has a land area of 284 km².
