Manabe Garden
Manabe Garden (ηιεΊε) is a private botanical garden established in Obihiro in 1931 by Masaaki Manabe, although cultivation of the land started when Saichi Manabe first took over the land in 1896. The eight hectares open to the public include Japanese, European and 'Scenic' sections and a gardening centre.
In the Japanese garden there is the Shinshokaku Palace, built for the Emperor Taisho when he visited (as Crown Prince) in 1911 and reused for the Emperor Showa (likewise as Crown Prince) when he came in 1922. The building was restored in 1969.
