Shinhidaka
Shinhidaka (新ひだか町 Shinhidaka-chō) is the sole township of Hidaka District, in the centre of Hidaka Subprefecture bordering Tokachi Subprefecture and the Pacific Ocean.
The JR Hidaka railway line passes through Shinhidaka, with stations at Shizunai (静内), Higashi-Shizunai (東静内), Harutachi (春立), Hidaka-Tōbetsu (日高東別), Hidaka-Mitsuishi (日高三石), Hōei (蓬栄) and Honkiri (本桐).
In 2006, Shinhidaka had a population of 27,150. It has a land area of 1,148 km².

History
Shinihidaka was formed in 2006 with the merger of Mitsuishi and Shizunai towns.

- Shizunai Nijuken Road (静内二十間道路桜並木) [1]. The longest cherry-tree lined road in Japan (7 km). The cherries bloom in early May.
